I picked up this brush set because it was on sale and I haven't come across many people that make brush packs for Artstudio Pro, which has recently become my go-to painting application.
There's an overwhelming number of brushes in this pack, far more than I'll ever use, but they are some of the best quality brushes I've used in any application (among Artstudio, Clip Studio, Procreate, etc).
The inks offer many variations on the same kind of traditional ink brush, with subtle differences between each. They felt so good to use that I've adopted a couple as my primary lines brushes. I also like the textured options for a rougher look when desired.
The paints offer the most variety of the 3 brush sets, and has brush types to cater to most rendering styles. The sculpterly and oils quickly became my favorite for a smooth digital finish, with an optional hint of texture available among the different oil brushes.
I can't speak much to the pencil pack since I ended up not using it much after getting won over by the inks and paints. There's a nice variety of line pencils and shading pencils, which produce a fairly authentic pencil effect when used together. My favorites from the pencils are the Concepter 2 and C Digital 3, which I found most useful for loose sketching.
My main negatives are that I would have liked to see some more erasers included for different purposes as well as some dedicated mixer/smudge brushes, and some of the textured brushes break at low brush sizes (which isn't uncommon, but usually disappointing).
Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. You get a lot in this pack for the price, and the tuning on all of the brushes is excellent.
I have used this brush pack for 2 weeks and can confidently say these are the nicest feelings brush sets available. For the paint index, those familiar with Kyle Webster's photoshop brushes will feel at home. Cladio has nailed the smooth blending perfectly, surpassing Photoshop's Mixer Brush – Artstudio Pro has the finest wet brush feature and I cannot wait for version 3.0. – The paint index contains beautiful realistic oils and acrylics (similar to Greg Rutkowski or Michael Adamidis' Photoshop brush packs for comparison), as well as uniquely buttery smooth digital paints that I have seen nothing come close to. The ink index surprised me; having never sought out comic style brushes before, I can say these inkers are far better than any default tool from Photoshop, Procreate, or the likes, perhaps a Clip Studio Paint comparison is accurate. The brush dynamics are crisp from small to large, they're just fun to use. The pencil index is also fantastic with natural pencils of every variety utilising the tilt dynamics you would expect from the Apple Pencil. The naming schemes are easy to understand without any whimsical titles unlike some brush packs, and are clearly labeled for tilt and dynamics. On Artstudio Pro for iOS, these brushes shine with Apple Pencil, but they're also great with a Wacom tablet on the Mac version, despite missing the tilt features. This is the fastest running brush pack for any software on the Mac (Affinity, ArtRage, and Krita can't work at the same sizes this smooth). These brushes are definitely a selling point for Artstudio Pro.
Perfect fit to the way I work! FEELS RIGHT as I move the pencil. These brushes have greatly expanded my control of how marks appear. With the older brushes I was “reshaping” the brushes to get the mark I want. Mind you, i want the marks to reflect the digital nature of their origin and take advantage of things I can’t do with real world materials. In this set of brushes I find myself modifying them to move, a little, away from their base settings to achieve my goals! Bravo! I have done some figure work that is indistinguishable from traditional medium, when I want to, while maintaining more creative control when I need to!
have the 3 brush sets for Art Studio Pro and Procreate, and, IMO, there are no better brushes out there period!! The Blending, the all around brush dynamics are first rate. You can tell immediately upon using that quite a bit of time, devotion to perfecting EACH brush in the set, and skill from a master brush maker all are very present and apparent in EACH brush in all the sets.(and there are many brushes that cover most every kind of brush you may need in your sketching, painting and drawing endeavors. BRAVO SIR, WELL DONE INDEED!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
The default brushes in ASP are already pretty good, so it took me a while before I decided to try out this brush pack, but what a difference it made! I especially love the dynamic tilt pencils. They're perfect for gesture drawings. It feels so real that I think I'd get charcoal dust on my fingers. The oil paint brushes are also my favorites. Everything is snappy, fast, and responsive so I can just concentrate on my painting. I love the added halftone bonus on the inks as well. Overall a great set which complements an already great brush engine!
